Friday, November 19th, 2021 - On October 22nd, we were inspired by a neighboring Incubator Farm and we decided to remove the hay mulch from our walkways and plant ryegrass instead. As you can see from these photos, our grassed walkways are growing in nicely and are an attractive addition to our plot! The ryegrass also functions as a cover crop by addressing two principles of soil health management: maximizing soil cover and maximizing continuous living roots. Ryegrass establishes quickly and provides benefits such as erosion control, nutrient cycling, and organic matter production.
