Friday, November 12th, 2021 - We have been noticing a variety of beneficial pollinators around the Teaching Garden such as bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects. Aside from the biodiversity of vegetable crops that we are growing this semester, there is a variety of wildflowers and cover crops that are thriving in and around or plots that seem to be attracting these pollinators. Not only are pollinators essential in plant reproduction, but the biodiversity of insects can also help to suppress pests. Likely thanks to the biodiversity, we have not experienced any detrimental pest or disease damage issues in our Incubator Farm thus far.
